I am happily married with two grown up sons. I live in South Staffs and love my land rover Defenders, occasional Harley Davidsons and at least one big road trip a year with my husband.
I started volunteering for Cherished in February 2015 after seeing a post on Facebook. When I first joined I was only going to sew, but gradually started knitting and crocheting as I could take it out and about. I was asked to be a mentor to help other volunteers and am very honoured that I was.
My Nan taught me to sew, knit and crochet as a very small child. I kept the sewing up but hadn't knitted since my children were born, late 80s and early 90s. the last crocheting was in my teens.
I work full time as an IT Manager, so when Cherished wanted a Website revamp I was asked. I started the expanded meet the volunteers pages to encourage more volunteers, more donations, as we are always need money to post our packs to hospitals and bereaved parents . I also wanted to make the website very easy for bereaved parents when they might need us
Well I have written this for all our other great volunteers so for me, please send us a donation, even if you can only afford a small amount it all really helps.
Cherished gowns went viral after an amazing response to Yvonne Trimble's Story was told all over the world, as well as nearly all the UK media, here is the link to the ITV coverage, the Independent and The Daily Mail
Here are some of my makes.
