For many years the ladies who ran Country Brides of Faversham,  ( Faversham and Dover , Kent ) had said we must organise a ball so brides can wear their gowns again and we can raise some money for charity.

This year , they have finally got round to it, and its all to raise funds and awareness for 3 charities.

Cherished Gowns Uk, Chroh's and Colitis Uk and The Breast Cancer Reseach Foundation.

These 3 charities were chosen because each store selling the tickets have a personal connection to the charities and with Jenni from the Dover store volunteering in the office , and taking on some admin roles.

Signature Brides in Hythe lost one of their family to Breast Cancer last year and it was a no brainer when they offered to help sell tickets that they nominated a charity close to their heart.

Sylvia from the Faversham store has a family member who has Colitis and very nearly lost them a couple of years ago.

The amazing team at the Tudor Park Marriott Hotel and Country Club, Maidstone were kind enough to step up and offer to host the ball, and offered up a couple of raffle prizes.  Kent Discos were an obvious choice for the Disco as they are a young dynamic team who know how to get the party going and get everyone on the dance floor.

One of the newest volunteers in the office Hayley has stepped up and offered chair covers and table centres  and the team at Light of My Life have offered some amazing Lights to make the night go with a bang!

Its an opportunity to raise awareness to a lot of brides about the work that Cherished Gown UK does and to  hopefully raise a lot of money in the process.

The Butterfly Awards is an evening full of glitz and glamour but at the same time tinged with a degree of sadness as everyone knows the whole room deals with family bereavement  particularly still born deaths.

Cherished Gowns were nominated for most media impact and won that category - meaning  that when the post of gowns went Viral we were able to highlight child bereavement to the  larger population and show what a difference small organisations like ours can make.

We also use the Butterfly Awards  as a chance to meet other organisations  that can make some amazing keep sakes for families and it's a time to talk to bereavement midwifes and take on any feedback face to face .
