My name is Jayne, I'm 43 years old and from South Wales. I am a director of a waste disposal company alongside my husband that we set up in 1996. I'm a stepmother and mother to 3 boys also proud grandma of 3year old grandson. I have always been 'creative, and enjoy a wide range of crafts but my passion is in costume and prop making. I decided in January 2016 that I would like to use my sewing skills and volunteer for charity. I found cherished gowns uk in February and decided to apply to become a seamstress. I received my first gown in march and although very daunting at first and quite upsetting starting off knowing what I was making these beautiful gowns for, it was also very rewarding. Any nerves I was feeling were soon eased by the help and guidance from the amazing mentor team , always very reassuring and on hand with any advice. I now find every wedding dress like a good book, once you start it's really hard to put down! But the best part of being a very small part of cherished is the rapport amongst the group, it is really like having a big extended family. We all work together and strive for perfection, each gown is unique and made with love and respect for the brides that donate their treasured dresses and for each special baby that will wear the gowns on their final journey. I would say to anyone considering joining our amazing group of volunteers do not hesitate , take the plunge! It's a really lovely charity to be part of.
Cherished Gowns Say:
Jayne was one of our fabulous volunteers who joined after Cherished Gowns went viral. We had an amazing response to Yvonne Trimble's Story which went viral all over the world, as well as nearly all the UK media, here is the link to the ITV coverage, the Independent and The Daily Mail
Jayne has received some fantastic feed back from one of our wedding dress donators :
Thank you so much for the photographs, these are amazing, I have to say i shed a few tears seeing what you have made. I hope others are as pleased and that they know this gown had so much love attached to it.
My Mother-in-law would like to donate her Wedding Gown which is amazing, should i get her to contact Cherished Gowns direct or are you able to take it from her?
Once again thank you so much.
