I joined Cherished after seeing an article about it. That year I made a New Years resolution to help more charities, but not by just by giving money.
I started out as a knitter and after seeing all the lovely crochet blankets I taught myself to crochet. I understand learning a new skill wards off dementia!
When I'm not knitting and crocheting I enjoy walking, cross stitching and a bit of sewing, but nothing like the very talented ladies who sew the little gowns. I have been a Nursery Nurse for 35 years and have worked with lots of children over the years. I still find them a joy to be with and totally fascinating!
I have been blessed with two beautiful daughters and a wonderful son in law. Before I had my daughters I suffered two miscarriages which totally devastated me. I can't begin to imagine what these parents are going though. I like to hope that in some very small way we are helping them through the most difficult time in their lives. Being a volunteer has enriched my life. I love to see the little things that I make pile up ready for posting. (And it's a perfect excuse to sit with my feet up with a glass of wine!)
